(Logged by Connor.)
Monty's -- Montgomery Building
You find yourself in a spacious,
well-lit, finely-furnished and highly upmarket nightclub, whose overall
atmosphere is best described as American interpreted with a somewhat old-world
European charm, in a cultural fusion.
The decor is tasteful and somewhat
understated. The general colour-scheme is a mixture of green hues and burnished
mahogany tones, the former from carpetted areas and walls, the latter from
latticed wall-panelling, floor areas, tables and the bar. Said laquered-mahogany
bar is well-stocked, with a variety of beverages, alcoholic and otherwise,
including a fine range of liqueurs. Above the bar hangs a somewhat incongrous
picture of the Queen of Great Britain.
As noted, a number of tables and
chairs are situated carefully around the club, some near the raised stage
area, upon which live entertainment takes place. When stage acts are not
in progress, the club's prominent grand piano is played by in-house virtuosoes.
The atmosphere is pleasant, but
not too laid-back, for the club is lively and vibrant.

Obvious exits:
Out to the Street <S> Backstage
<B> Entrance Hall <EH> Private Office <PO>
Sebastian Shaw works his way through
the room, sticking to the darkness for as long as possible -- then, nonchalantly,
heading backstage, being as unobtrusive as possible.
Sinner brings his hand up under
his chin and watches the performance, evidently completely enraptured.
Connor comes in through the front door.
Cut to:
Granite statue striding across rocky terrain near a seashore. Statue seems to ignore minor variations such as cliffs etc. Statue passes camera to reveal hollow rear, then strides into the sea, slowly sinking with each step.
StarDancer sings:
"I gave my love to a man of stone."
"Cold he was but there to cling
to."
"Found his stone to be hollow."
"The tide changed and he was gone"
"The tide changed and he was gone."
Sebastian Shaw heads backstage.
Connor thinks . o O (Hope the other guys recognize me.. I've never seen them without masks... and this is my first time in a nightclub... I don't want to do this alone.)
Connor stands near the door glancing around the room as if waiting for someone.
Pamela yawns, and stands, walking over to the bar.
StarDancer faces herself. Her faces fade to profiles. The profiles fade to suggest a chalice.
The chalice fades back to faces.
"Love is a cup that vanishes,"
"Love is a cup that disappears."
"Try to reach it, you can't touch
it,"
"Close your fingers and it's gone."
"Close your fingers and it's gone."
Sinner smiles at Star's performance.. o O (Y'know, if there's a 'man of silver' line in this, I might just be over the moon...) He glances over at Pamela's yawning, and tsks quietly.
Connor thinks . o O (Relax... that's why you came here....unwind. Like Tempest said, you did a good job trying to stop Joker yesterday....)
Cut to:
Stage set from first verse, Eight
male dancers proffer bouquets boxes of candy, etc. StarDancer ignores them
all. The men turn to female dancers who simply appear, pair off, and vanish.
StarDancer sings:
"I find myself once more alone."
"Don't know if I should trust again."
"How many times will my heart be
broken?"
"How many times will I feel the
pain?"
"How many times will I feel the
pain?"
Connor thinks . o O (Not good enough.....heh.
And now he and Lantern aren't here. Trust the fastest man alive to run
late....)
Cut to:
StarDancer faces herself. Her faces
fade to profiles. The profiles fade to suggest a chalice. The chalice fades
back to faces.
"Love is a cup that vanishes,"
"Love is a cup that disappears."
"Try to reach it, you can't touch
it,"
"Close your fingers and it's gone."
"Close your fingers and it's gone."
StarDancer merges again, bows and
and returns you to Monty's -- Montgomery Building.
Sinner grins, stands up from his
chair and applauds remarkably overenthusiastically.. o O (Forget reserve
this time around..)
Pamela returns to her seat with a glass of champagne.
The curtains close, as the music dies away.
StarDancer heads backstage.
Sinner grins.. "Encore, encore."
Pamela sips the drink
Connor takes a seat at the bar and looks at the bartender. "Club soda."
Sebastian, the bar-tender, rolls his eyes. .. o O (So little class, the youth of day.)
Connor sips his drink as he looks around the room.
StarDancer emerges from elsewhere in the club.
StarDancer flits over to Sinner, and lands in his lap, leaning her head on his shoulder, and looking rather worn out.
Sinner cuddles Star. "Hey. How's my girl?"
Pamela stands and walks to Sinner and StarDancer's table.
Sinner smiles... "Talented, poetic, smart, beautiful but also tired, mm?"
StarDancer nods quietly.
Pamela says "Excuse me...?"
Sinner whispers something to her.
Sebastian Shaw emerges from elsewhere in the club.
StarDancer looks up at Pamela.
Quentin Montgomery emerges from elsewhere in the club.
Pamela says "I'd just like to compliment your singing."
StarDancer briefly glows shocking pink.
Pamela smiles broadly.
Quentin Montgomery steps out and walks over to Shaw.. "No, no, m'dear, you quite misunderstood.. "
StarDancer says, "oh, uhhh, thanx..."
Sebastian Shaw quirks a brow ever so slightly. "My apologies, then, old boy. But sit, relax, and tell me of business and events."
Sinner grins and rubs Star's shoulder a little. "Guess it makes a change having someone *other* than your boyfriend rave about your voice, mm, sweetheart?"
Pamela smiles, inclines her head, and walks away.
Quentin Montgomery [to Sebastian Shaw]: "Come, m'dear, why don't you step into my office?"
Connor sits at the bar and sips his drink, occasionally glancing around as if looking for someone.
Sebastian Shaw shrugs. "Do you have anything acceptable to drink? I suddenly feel a great thirst..."
Quentin Montgomery smiles. "I'm sure your namesake at the bar will be of assistance, m'dear."
Sebastian the barman leans over the bar.
Sebastian Shaw quriks another brow at Quentin, and says "The Montgomery sense of humor at work?" as he heads for the bar.
Quentin Montgomery smiles. "Not at all... Sebastian's been with us for a long time.. just returned after a little vacation.. not unlike yourself."
Sinner gives Star's shoulder a little scritch. "Takes a lot out of you, doesn't it?"
StarDancer nods quietly, and you can barely hear her purr.
Pamela makes her way to the bar.
Pamela sets her empty glass down on the bar.
Sinner cuddles Star somewhat.. "Almost too tired to purr? Someone's just about to crash out.."
Sebastian Shaw stops by the barkeep, and snags a bottle of French brandy, bottled in roughly 1783. "Adequate." Shaw says, before turning back to Quentin. "Lead on, MacDuff."
Pamela raises one delicate eyebrow at Shaw.
Quentin Montgomery smiles. "Personally, m'dear... I'd prefer to perform the action suggested by the *correct* line of the play, eh, what?"
Quentin Montgomery smiles and murmurs.. "And damned be he who cries, Hold! Enough!"
Sebastian Shaw grins back. "Who first cries, hold, enough!" he murmurs, in the same tone.
Quentin Montgomery smiles broadly. "Now, you wouldn't get *that* from a woman."
Sebastian Shaw returns the smile. "Don't you remember the last time we fenced, old boy? I'm sure they managed to strip the scar tissue from your lungs..."
Pamela raises an eyebrow and says aloud, "Macbeth?"
Quentin Montgomery raises a finger to his mouth exaggeratedly. "Sssh, m'dear... it's The Scottish Play...."
Sebastian Shaw murmurs "By the pricking of my thumbs..." before turning to Pamela. "Correct." he says, in a normal tone of voice, to her.
Connor glances over at Pamela. "That and the one about the Prince of Denmark are never to be mentioned by name."
Quentin Montgomery looks to Connor.. "What, Hamlet, m'dear? Come, come, no supersitious claptrap here, eh, what?"
Sinner simply sits quietly with the evidently worn-out SD.
Sebastian Shaw snickers, after exaggeratedly looking around. "Since the Lady Selene is nowhere to be found, anyway."
Pamela smiles broadly, stepping forward and offering a hand. "Then forgive my most terrible faux pas." (sp?) "I'm Pamela Demeter."
Quentin Montgomery raises an eyebrow.. "As in the goddess?"
Sebastian Shaw accepts the proffered hand, kissing the back of it in a truly old-fashioned manner before lowering her hand. "Sebastian Shaw, and this insufferable lout is Quentin Montgomery."
Pamela bows from the shoulders. "A pleasure Mr. Shaw, Lord Montgomery..."
Quentin Montgomery shakes his head. "I'm afraid Sebbie there isn't being accurate.. but then what can you expect, his relations marry *outside* of the family. You, m'dear, are quite correct. It is *Lord* Montgomery.."
Sebastian Shaw turns to follow Quentin back to his offices. "A truly pleasing presentation. Whereever did you find her?"
Quentin Montgomery hmms.. "Which one?"
Pamela thinks . o O (These are men to be noted...)
Pamela brings a hand to her mouth, lightly kissing it.
Pamela exhales across her palm, sending a cloud of invisible chemichals across the room.
Connor turns back to his drink as he looks around again. o O (Hmmm... Demeter... and Pamela... why does that seem to be setting off an alarm in my head?)
Sebastian Shaw inhales, and pauses, shaking his head. Turning back to Pamela, he smiles at her, a winning smile with absolutely no reflection in his eyes.
Pamela thinks . o O (A cool one, that.)
Quentin Montgomery sniffs the air briefly. He pauses. He looks over at Shaw.
Connor sniffs the air as he looks back over in the other direction.
Sebastian Shaw bows to Pamela, from the waist, and salutes her with the bottle of brandy. "We shall have words, you and I." He then tears his gaze away from her to follow Quentin.
Pamela allows herself a dazzling smile in return, which also does not reach her eyes.
Quentin Montgomery rolls his eyes. "Typical... he's been playing the Lazarus act for a good half-hours, and he's pulled already..."
Connor thinks . o O (Hmm...smells like... musk of some kind...)
Sinner has no nose, and wonders why everyone's sniffing.
Sebastian Shaw swats Quentin on the shoulder. "MacDuff, are you crying hold?"
StarDancer doesn't breathe, and rilly doesn't care rite now.
Quentin Montgomery looks at his shoulder. He looks up at Shaw.
Quentin Montgomery says "Sebastian, this smoking jacket cost more than you've earned whilst you've been dead."
Sebastian Shaw laughs at this. "I keep telling you, Birnam Wood hasn't marched on Dunsanaine yet, old boy. But this bottle's getting warm, and I've developed quite the need for a drink, listening to your prattle."
Quentin Montgomery hmms. "Birnham Wood better watch no-one's waiting with a flamethrower behind a precariously positioned stage-bush, you loathsome oik. Come."
Sebastian Shaw follows after Quentin, chuckling. "Your sense of humor's as bad as it ever was. Butching the Bard like that..."
Quentin Montgomery gestures to his office. "Age before beauty..." He then murmurs something involving "... before shovel."
Sebastian Shaw sneers at Quentin, and leads the way.
Sinner looks up and looks back at Star.. "Looks like your boss has a new special friend.."
Connor sighs. o O (Hmm... guess they guys might be waiting outside.)
Connor stands and heads towards the enterance
Pamela leaves for the street.
Pamela has left.
Connor returns from the building
enterance, sighs, and walks back to the street.
Vista Place - Central City
Vista Place is the name given to
the cluster of affluent restaurants and clubs that have grown up here.
This area is decidedly upper-class, and the businesses here reflect that
alignment to money. Some of the clubs have been here almost since the city's
founding, and many of the buildings are rather historic in and of themselves.
To the north, the roads wind into
the Chinatown district, and to the east are the entertainments of Theatre
Avenue.
There is a subway station here; use
'sub' to get to it.

The Montgomery Building <MB>
Monty's Nightclub<MN> Theatre Avenue <E> Chinatown <N>
Connor exits from the club and looks around.
Connor thinks . o O (Still don't see them....)
Connor sighs.
Connor leans against the wall, glancing
at his watch.
Twenty minutes later, Connor re-enters the club...
Quentin Montgomery smiles. "Ah yes, my Star turn. Trust me, she'll make it to Boradway yet, mark my words."
Connor steps back in from outside. He goes back to the bar, and orders another drink.
Quentin Montgomery says "And then hopefully somewhere a little more.. <considers>.. prominent."
Pamela laughs lightly, the sound reminiscent of wind rushing through chimes.
Pamela says "Of course."
Quentin Montgomery says "Upmarket... more stylish... and if there isn't such a place, I'll just create one."
Pamela nods. "Of course...and why not?"
Quentin Montgomery looks over at Connor.. o O (How did that yokel get past the bouncers?)
Quentin Montgomery nods. "That's the spirit, m'dear!"
Quentin Montgomery thinks . o O (Now, now, Quentin.. remember.. red-headed women = tragic unconsummated love affairs = manipulative little vixens one and all..)
Pamela thinks . o O (There is much, much more to this man that he will ever let on.)
Connor feels the eys on him. o O (I wonder what miracle let me get in here... or why Flash wanted to meet me here...)
Quentin Montgomery says "Anyway, m'dear.. how may I be of service...?"
Pamela smiles. "Well, I understand you print a magazine?"
Quentin Montgomery says "A chain of magazines, m'dear, a chain. But atop the heap.. America's <quiet voice> second <louder voice> most popular publication."
Pamela smiles in mild amusement. "Which is the most popular?"
Quentin Montgomery rolls his eyes... "I'll give you a clue. He smokes a pipe, and likes to see the genus Lepus Lepus in a bow-tie."
Pamela notices Wally's entrance and turns her head away from the door.
Quentin Montgomery looks over to Wally... o O (Oh dear, *another* commoner...)
Pamela thinks . o O (Oh no..not now...curse that horrid fool...)
Connor looks up and grins at Wally. o O (Think of the devil.)
Wally West is suddenly inside, next to Connor.
Connor looks at Wally and whispers. "You know, for the fastest man alive, you sure do have trouble keeping appointments."
Wally West says "Sorry I'm late Connor."
Wally West leans over to Connor. "It's an old trick Barry taught me to protect us when we had secret I.D.'s. I guess it's still a habit...
Connor nods.
Quentin Montgomery [to Pamela]: "You know the fellow. Old Hughie... <rolls eyes>"
Wally West looks around the room, casually.
You say "So, I guess you heard about the break out yesterday...."
Pamela glances at Quentin, upper lip curled slightly in mild disdain at the newcomer.
Quentin Montgomery nods quietly to Pamela.. "I know, m'dear, I know... the youth of today.. no idea of style... simply disgracefully attired..."
Wally West says "I thought maybe getting out a bit would be good. Yeah, I heard about it. did you hear about the riot on City Hall? It's crazy out there...I'm surprised a lot of buildings are still standing."
Pamela smiles faintly.
Quentin Montgomery says "Anyway, m'dear, if you'll excuse me, I have a little business to be getting on with... tiresome stuff, but alarmingly necessary.."
Pamela smiles. "Of course."
Connor nods and whispers. "Between the riots, the universe coming to an end and Joker and Poison Ivy being loose..."
Quentin Montgomery nods. "Good day, m'dear. I do hope my establishment will be graced with your presence again."
Wally West says "You know about Poison Ivy?"
Pamela manages not to flinch at the discussion of her alter ego, but Quentin might notice something in her expression.
Wally West says "She did something to me earlier...I don't really understand what happened. I know Robin was involved though..."
Pamela nods. "Certainly. It has a certain charm and class that I have yet to see in this city elsewhere."
Quentin Montgomery raises an eyebrow at Pamela and then smiles. "Why, my *dear*.. I'm touched, truly I am. Good day."
Connor smiles. "I was there stopping the break out. There was a call from Arkaham at the Island while I was there... some of the other heroes and I were there."
Quentin Montgomery turns and enters his office.
Connor grins. "Figures that Joker would use a chopper the one time we don't have a hero who can fly there...."
Pamela turns, not facing Wally or Connor, and makes her way towards the door.
Wally West nods. "I hate facing people who can fly..."
Pamela slips out.
Connor has been watching the red haired woman out of the corner of his eye.
Connor shrugs. "What happened with you and Robin and her?"
Wally West says "I dunno. I'd never heard of her...or I guess I don't remember seeing her before. Nightwing's told me stories...but I guess I was thinking with the wrong head or something."
Connor nods. "I heard something about her having some ability to get a man focused on her and nothing else."
Wally West says "This lady was inside the Tower's waiting room, and I went to meet her. Robin had just stopped by...and he went with me. Tirned out it was her. It was weird. I've never been so instantly attracted to anyone before in my life. I think Robin and I fought a little..but it's all hazy."
Connor nods. "Sounds like her... was she in a green costume?"
Wally West says "Next thing I know, I'm waking up in my bed. I asked the receptionist what happened, and she said I went crazy in the lobby, messed everything up, and then collapsed."
Wally West nods to Connor about his last question.
Wally West says "Robin must have taken my back to my room. Poor kid, I'll have to apologize to him when I see him next."
Connor nods. "Sound like her.... I didn't get too good a look at her... I was trying to take out Harley Quinn....
Wally West says "Harley Quinn?"
Wally West says "I've been out of the loop for a while..."
Connor nods. "Joker's sidekick... she's the reason he broke INTO Arkham. To get her out. Well, that and to prove the point about a madman breaking INTO a nuthouse. I think Ivy just tagged along."
Wally West says "Who else was helping you?"
You say "Batman and Spiderman.. didn't want to name drop with all those people around... that red haired lady who just left was listening to us...."
Wally West says "Really?"
Wally West looks out the door. "Wow. She was gorgeous too."
Connor nods. "I just barely noticed, but she's been looking at me since I came in... and... I dunno.. do you smell something in here? Something different?"
Wally West looks out the door. "Wow...I'm not one to turn down a pretty face. Maybe she was just shy..."
Wally West says "Be right back, Connor."
Connor shakes his head. "I doubt she was checking me out... it was more like.... appraising."
Wally West heads towards the entrance hall.
Connor nods. "You feeling all... "
Connor watches Wally run off.
Connor sighs.
Connor says "..... Right."
Connor waits five minutes and the goes outside. He sees Wally talking to Pamela.
Wally West says "Yes. Really. Would you like to come back to Montty's and spend some time?"
Connor comes out of the door. "Hey..."
Connor stops short as he hears the last bunch of words.
Pamela smiles faintly. "Well, I'm not really the nightclub sort. I prefer quiet walks in the moonlight, with the soft earth between my toes." She winks suggestively.
Connor notices that strange smell again. He is almost sure he smells some kind of musk.
Wally West says "Whatever you want will be fine."
Wally West doesn't appear to notice Connor at all.
Connor walks up. "Um... Wally, are you feeling better?"
Wally West continues looking at Pam. He nods and waves a hand toward Connor.
Pamela smiles slowly.
Connor nods, taking the hint. "Okay... I can take a hint... but introduce me to your friend before I go."
Wally West is still looking at Pam, and smiling stupidly. He says nothing.
Connor thinks . o O (Hmm... okay... this is looking worse by the minute.)
Connor looks at Pam and grins. "I guess that I can't count on you to introduce yourself?
Connor smiles a little bit too much.
Pamela smiles slowly. "Pamela. Pamela Demeter." She offers her hand.
Connor takes the hand and is about to raise it to his mouth. "Mind if I kiss it?"
Wally West looks over at Connor. "I do."
Pamela raises an eyebrow.
Connor thinks . o O (Uh-oh.)
Pamela says "Well, I don't mind either way. You two should decide."
Connor leaves the hand unkissed and drops it. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Demter."
Connor looks at Wally. "Have a nice time, man."
Connor starts to walk off....
Wally West just continues to grin stupidly at Pamela.
Pamela smiles back, winking.
